NFT Fractionalization is the process of placing an NFT or NFT portfolio into a contract or legal structure and issuing divisible units that represent an economic or governance interest connected to it. The process does not alter ERC-721 indivisibility by itself; it creates a second layer of claims. Fractionalization can also change the legal and regulatory character of the offering. Operationally, designers define custody, fraction supply, valuation, buyout, redemption, voting, fees, liquidation, treatment of royalties, and recovery if the vault or marketplace stops operating.
